My name is Melanie Maldonado and I am currently a student at High Point University in North Carolina. I am from a small town in northern New Mexico and I wanted to experience a culture different than my own. And that is how I ended up moving almost 1,700 miles away from home.
I am a Pre-Medicine: Psychology major and Women’s Gender Studies minor. I am passionate about the way the human mind works. We are all such delicate beings, and the study of the individual intrigues me. I am also passionate about women’s rights. We are in a time where equality for all is making its presence, and I am glad that I will be able to contribute to it for women around the nation, and the world. Moreover, I want to become a doctor, specifically a neurologist and/or a psychiatrist, but you can learn more about that under My Goals.
This website will be about my progress throughout college. I will discuss my goals, both short and long term, and the process I will go through in order to achieve them. I will also talk about the courses I take over the next four years. I will reflect upon these classes and what they contribute to my personal growth.
As a Bonner Leader, it is my duty to improve the programs at the YWCA. I want to solve problems by creating or improving programs in the Women’s Resource Center. It has always been a passion of mine to help those in need and being able to help women in the city of High Point is an honor.
I hope that you continue to follow me throughout my journey. I hope that I will be able to inspire you as well. 🙂
